Modem init hangs/errors only with some browsers.

Hi all,

I recently setup another DreamPi (a Pi Zero 2 W on latest DreamPi v1.9) on a second console in my home office. Everything is working without issue except for some of the PlanetWeb browsers from the XDP collection.

In the video below, I have verbose modem messages turned on so the errors are visible. Otherwise, it just hangs on "Init. Modem". I'm also watching /var/log/syslog to see if there are any AT command messages while trying to connect, and I see none.

Per pcwizard's advice, I tried swapping in different modems, but with no luck.

Has anyone ever seen something like this before?

Okay, fixed!

Somehow the modem init setting was configured as "AT&D2&K3&C1&Q5", when it should just be "AT&F" (or "AT&F0").

I have no idea how that happened, but alas -- all is well now.

PS: This setting can be found in dial options (PlanetWeb).
