[RELEASE] 60hz interlaced patches for compsite/s-video CRT users.

I put together a few patches designed for users of 60hz NTSC CRTs who are using composite or s-video. These are not targeted towards RGB SCART users, unlike these patches.

Note that these patches might work for RGB SCART, but those using VGA should definitely avoid these, as they're both A) unnecessary and B) are, in some cases, capable of breaking VGA support.

Evil Twin: Cyprien's Chronicles (English and French Version) (NTSC 60hz Interlaced Patch) [GDI]
This patch locks the game to 60hz (previously only ever supported 50hz), so no more rolling picture. Note that some NTSC 60hz CRTs are fine with the vanilla game, while others are not.

F-1 Racing Championship (NTSC 60hz Interlaced Locked) [GDI]
This patch selects 60hz by default, so no more rolling picture before you select 60hz. The 50hz option is no longer functional.

Fighting Vipers 2 (NTSC 60hz Interlaced Default) [GDI]
This patch selects 60hz by default, so no more rolling picture before you select 60hz. The 50hz option is still available.

Monaco Grand Prix Racing Simulation 2 (NTSC 60hz Interlaced Patch) [GDI]
This patch locks the game to 60hz (previously only ever supported 50hz), so no more rolling picture.

NOTE: I discovered this is the same game as "Monaco Grand Prix" released in North America. As such, this patch is not necessary. Also note that this is not the online version of the game, making it doubly useless!

Toy Racer (NTSC 60hz Interlaced Locked) [GDI]
This patch selects 60hz by default, so no more rolling picture before you select 60hz. The 50hz option is no longer functional.

Racing Simulation 2 - Monaco Grand Prix On-Line (NTSC 60hz Interlaced Patch) [GDI]
This patch locks the game to 60hz (previously only ever supported 50hz), so no more rolling picture.

Shenmue II (NTSC 60hz Interlaced Locked) [GDI]
This patch locks the game to 60hz. No 50/60hz prompt will be displayed, and no more rolling picture before you select 60hz.

Shenmue II (English Dub) [NTSC 60hz Interlaced Locked] [GDI]
This patch locks the game to 60hz. No 50/60hz prompt will be displayed, and no more rolling picture before you select 60hz.

If you're using composite/s-video with Shenmue II, it'll prompt you for 50/60hz (defaulting to PAL). This is inconvenient for NTSC users who must deal with the rolling picture until they select 60hz.

Evil Twin is a weird one. Out of two tests on two different consumer NTSC CRTs, it worked fine for one person, but a rolling picture was seen on the other. However, the rolling picture was not in black and white, but instead color. I think this might be because 60hz on Dreamcast is perhaps similar to PAL 60? I really don't know, and I can't explain this discrepancy.

I think that Yu Suzuki's Online Works needs a patch like this because on a PAL console, Out Run wil run in 50hz.
While all others, menu, and other games all run in 60hz.
It's funny and cool at the same time

You're in the "it just works" camp! Like I said, it doesn't make any sense why it only affects some displays 🤷🏻‍♂️

Thanks for this! I just ran into an issue with PAL games over S-Video running through my Retrotink 2X-Pro and those Fighting Vipers 2 and Evil Twin patches worked great!

I also discovered that booting with Codebreaker first for most of the games that were giving me issues forced those games into 60Hz, which was also awesome!

That said, I still had 3 games left that I was trying to force into 60Hz that didn't work with Codebreaker:
  • F1 Racing Championship (60Hz can be selected in-game, but was hoping to force it)
  • Toy Racer (60Hz can be selected in-game, but was hoping to force it)
  • Monaco Grand Prix 2 (no 60Hz option, only outputs 50Hz)
Of the three games, F1 and Toy Racer technically work, but with my Retrotink I have to select 60Hz then toggle the power to the Retrotink on/off to get it to work so I was hoping someone knows a way to force those to boot in 60Hz.

As for Monaco Grand Prix 2, that's the only game I have labeled as PAL that I can't seem to force to 60Hz at all...maybe there's a specific Codebreaker code that works?
