What games made best usage of the analog triggers?

Post by bubby124 »

As the console that pretty much standardized the use of analog triggers that virtually all controllers have today (Saturn 3D controller had them before ofc), what games do you think made the best usage of them? Games with driving are generally a given, but even among those, I think Red Dog and F355 Challenge felt pretty standout in this regard.

World Series Baseball 2k1 had an interesting use of the analog triggers.

Instead of pressing one of the face buttons to swing the bat, you had to hold the right analog trigger down before the ball was pitched, and then release it at the moment when you wanted to swing. It was unique for the time. Personally, I prefer the swing mechanics in WSB2K2, but it's a novel use of the triggers.

Any racing game. Dreamcast's analogue triggers were great for that genre.

Racing games in general and Sega Bass Fishing, the later is better with the fishing rod though.

The first time I played AFO I was so confused but now I love the control setup with the triggers.

Neppachi

Pachinko machines are fed by a dial that throttles how fast the balls are fed into play. I know pachinko is typically garbage bin material for Western collectors, but it's utilized appropriately here.
