Posted: Tue Dec 03, 2024 3:08 pm
Latest version of this patch is 1.2
This is a newer english patch for Space Channel 5 Part 2 that adds English commands, fixes bugs and minor inconsistences that were present in BrAzE's original english patch
Special thanks to
BrAzE (Original creator of the English patch)
darkrk (manatools and troubleshooting)
woofmute (Gindows Debug mod)
PkR (Downsampled CDI files)
Here is what's new in this patch:
Fixed line timings (Hopefully)
-English Commands for all characters
-Peace carrier now has 2 versions of commands like the PS2 version
-Edited the lines for Pudding and Pine in report 5 to say the button instead of HEY and CHU
-Purge has his correct commands in Report 6 and MLT errors should be fixed.
-Corrected "Directional Buttons" to "Directional Pad" to match the Dreamcast Dpad
Update 1.1: Dreamcast FMVs (Now Merged with 1.1.1)
(PS2 fmvs are used in the .cdi to save space)
This update replaces the PS2 fmvs with the Dreamcast FMVs, to preserve the quality, I decided to not add subtitles for the japanese text which isn't really a deal breaker since there isn't much difference when translated, to be specific, I'm talking about FMVs with text inside the FMV, FMVs using the in-game text system are translated, but yeah there isn't a big difference especially with the English audio available, only difference being is that at the "Ulala swinging report show" fmvs, the report title at the end is in japanese to correspond to the japanese version's level select, all titles are in english in the level select, think of it as the best of both worlds, but regardless here is a translation (Japanese isn't my language so there could be small errors)
Intro: "11:59 PM Space Point XX" "Space Pirate Radio Station Reporter" "Jaguar" "Pudding" "Space Michael"
Report 1 Ulala Again!: "9:00 AM Space Point 44-7G" "The same time, Space Symphony lounge" "8:30 AM Space Point 3-8B"
Report 2 Green Terror
Report 3 Enter! The Sexy Space Police!
Report 4 The end of space channel 5?!
Report 5 Space Spy Mission
Report 6 Purge T.V Show
Update 1.1.1: BugFixes and improvements
-MLT size optimization allowing for more space, now round 4 and round 6 no longer have resampled sfx for banks that weren't resampled
-Added the fade out sounds for purge in round 6 instead of using 1 sound variant to match the other ports
-Fixes very small audio stream corruption in Report 4
-Replaced the music afs files with the original files which ensures more accurate notes output, as a result, Report 6's finale's note and the rest of the levels are synced.
Update 1.2: SFX Overhaul
Some time after 1.1.1 I decided to play the PS2 version, I noticed how some sfx in-game are different from the PC version, apparently the SFX banks on PS2 are accurate to the Dreamcast version and not a bugfix in PC version, because PC version's sfx bank system is messed up and is missing some PS2 exclusive sfx, this patch has all the SFX redone and amplified to match the PS2 waveforms, I used the PC version's sfx since they are the highest quality, also note that I couldn't use few SFX because of samplerate limit and to make sure the sound stream doesn't break, also the fact Psound can't 100% extract all sounds so I had to combine it with the PC version's sfx but luckily it wasn't too bad, the CDI version uses the PS2 version's resampled sfx for sfx that are resampled in the vanilla game while GDI uses high quality ones, here is a changelog:
-Ulala and the president now use their highest quality sfx.
-Shadow's grunt in Round 2 now uses the one from the PS2 version instead of the Japanese one, and Ulala's SFX don't change like PS2/DC JP.
-Added all highest quality sounds possible in the voice afs (GDI Only).
-Ulala's long left and right sfx now match the PS2 version.
-Round 6 act 2 no longer uses downsampled music in the CDI version.
