Hope this is the right place to put this but someone has discovered a Crazy Taxi prototype with a GTA style top down view:

Wow, that's pretty cool.
Wouldn't have wanted that one on the final game, seems like a nightmare to control

You should check his thread regularly, there are tons of incredible betas/protos, etc released almost every month.
