Hey, does anyone here think the PC game Project IGI would be able to run on the Sega Dreamcast? If so could it be ported over as a GDI or CDI?

Does anyone want to comment on whether or not this game can work on the Dreamcast?

Try to contact the original developers for the source code.

I believe this is theoretically possible. I've conducted some decompilation work on both the game and its sequel (which I hope you'll bear with me as it's relevant), and I've uncovered some intriguing findings. We already know that Extreme Sports used the same engine and was fully ported to the Dreamcast. However, one particular detail that stands out is the inclusion of a conversion tool, gconv, which is part of the sequel's Map Editor. This tool is also backwards compatible with the original game. gconv has flags that allow certain file formats (such as 3D models and images) to be adjusted for Dreamcast compatibility. Tells me that it's possible to convert the assets into a format the Dreamcast can read, which is a promising development. That said the most challenging part will likely be obtaining the source code or a comprehensive decompilation of the engine itself in order to fully port the game. Still, this discovery offers a solid lead IMO.

It takes much time and talent to deliver on this sort of project. The devs that work on this sort of thing do so out of love and passion. Because of copyrighted material, even money can't buy this kind of labor.

I'm sorry, but the lack of responses doesn't look promising.
