Almost all vertical shooters on the DC have the option to rotate the screen, also known as TATE mode. I wish i had a VGA box to use the PC CRT monitor to do this, though. You know, it's kinda dangerous (and uncomfortable) to flip a 21" CRT tv vertically  I'll prolly mod my dc with the VGA output soon...

Tha's pretty cool. You could just turn a CRT on it's side, as has been said.

Yeah, I've simply placed a CRT on its side before, but said CRT mysteriously ceased working a few days later while playing Under Defeat. Was possibly unrelated to it being on its side, but one can never be to sure.

The tate mode LCD conveniently rotates from landscape to portrait view, takes up less space, and weighs a lot less.

8-)

I was looking at an HP lcd that could rotate. Is that the one you have?

Was donated to the store I work at to be scrapped through our recycling program. Did not work at the time so I asked the boss if I could have it, which he had no objection to. A little research revealed that this paticular model has a couple of known, relatively simple to fix, manufacturing flaws. Cost about $3 to buy the actual replacement capicitors from Radio Shack. Took about 30 or so minutes to dismantle, check for one other known to exist flaw, replace said capicitors, and then reassemble.

You referring to the refurbished HP tate LCD's being sold on Geek.com by chance? I was contemplating buying one of those up until this monitor came my way.

Nice find! Can't get a better geek deal than that.

I saw the HP on tigerdirect.com Most likely the same one. I think dell makes a rotatable lcd monitor also.
