Bafta is running a poll asking for gamers to vote for the most influential game. My hope that is that those of us who would like to see Shenmue 4 happen, will vote Shenmue. I do want everyone who isn't a Shenmue supporter to still vote for their own favorite influential game.

I would say PSO would be a strong candidate. Sure, it's not the first MMORPG or MUD, but it is the one that brought 3D MMOs to home console. Additionally it supported multi-platform play, which rarely happened for the 2000s decade.

Other titles 4x4 Evolution has cross-compatibility networking in three environments but PSO did the obscure PC port really hang with Dreamcast?

That’s an interesting point! 4x4 Evolution offering cross-compatibility in three environments was definitely a cool feature back in the day, allowing players on different platforms to connect. But when it comes to PSO (Phantasy Star Online), the PC port was a bit of a mess, honestly. It didn’t quite mesh well with the Dreamcast version, especially considering the technical limitations and how different the platforms were. The Dreamcast version was smoother and had a more seamless experience, so I can see why the PC port didn’t really hang with it. It’s a fascinating look at how cross-platform gaming evolved, even if it didn’t always work as well as intended!
