I'm getting a Pinball Table!

Post by TheCoolinator »

Hey all,

I've decided to make my living room into a game room. I already bought a bar, two bar stools, new rug, and have started the process of buying a pinball table.

The only stand up arcade I have in there right now is my families old Crystal Castle cabinet. It runs as fine as can be for a 26 year old machine and I recently wiped it down and replaced the monitor shield glass.

If weather permits and the game checks out OK I will have one more arcade cabinet, Taito's SCI: Special Criminal Investigations (car chase game with joystick for firing). Similar to Chase H.Q. but much better because you can actual fire a gun at the person your chasing.

The last piece of the puzzle is going to be the Pinball table. I've spoken to the distributor and he's starting the reconditioning process as we speak. The machine is called Speak Easy and I'm buying it mainly because of the price and the design. It's going to be a nice first "pin" as pinball enthusiasts would say.

If you would like to see pictures of it check out my blog spot below.

That's awesome. I've always wanted to something like this. Looks like you've picked a good selection of games too.

Ya, hopefully it works out alright. Weather permitting I should be able to pick up the SCI arcade cabinet this weekend and am going through the final processes of buying the pinball machine.

Oh and for some reason the pinball guy is really unorganized. It's making me think twice about doing business with him....don't know what to do....he has great prices but I don't know if I can trust him. :?

My dad was just recently considering getting a pinball table. Cool for you that you are getting one!

Unfortunately I will not be getting the Speak Easy Pinball Machine anymore because the distributor that I was supposed to do business with seems to be very unorganized, sluggish, and so overwhelmed with other things at the moment that he was unable to complete the transaction.

On a good note however, I found another distributor that has already taken my money and will be delivering my reconditioned pinball machine TX-Sector on Thursday of this week.

It was a little bit more cash but it has a lot more action going on on the play field. Bumpers, drop downs, ramps, and much much, more, then Speak Easy had to offer. So either way my Pinball machine journey has come to an end. I will be undating my blog on Monday to clarify the situation. Thanks all.

That's an excellent choice smith. :)

I remember in sonic one in the casino one of the two pinball machines you could play to earn coins was very similar to that, if not that one. I could sit there & play it for a long time. (:

Update:

Special Criminal Investigation (SCI) is sitting in my garage right now. I cleaned out all the dust yesterday with my handy dandy little vaccuum. I then noticed that the previous owner had the game set on EASY difficulty with MAX time and MAX amount of turbos. I then changed it to HARD difficulty, 3 turbos instead of 5, and 10 seconds shaved off the time, so 60 seconds instead of 70.

As you can tell I like my games challenging. The most interesting thing occured after I set the Turbo amount switch. The force feedback on the wheel started working again. I guess I must have woke up the monster inside the cabinet because while I was testing out the dip switches I pressed start, began a game, and the minute I crashed into something the wheel started jerking around like crazy. I was lile.....WTF? So all in all everything is set to my liking and am awaiting the Pinball Machine guys on thursday to help me out with the move.

Pictures will be taken.
