Having tons of phun with the new (new to me) DC.
I grabbed the super VMU Loader v1.30 Dreamcast disc, tried to upload several game-saves to my "port 1" controller VMU, but for some reason some games seem to recognize the data in the VMU, other's don't. Do I have to just keep trying different save-datas until one works, or is there a trick to makng things always "set"?
I saw a "Dreamcast PC to VMU link cable" on eBay (item 170467028298) and am wondering how folks on here use one with their PC, how managing a VMU this way is any different from using the VMU Loader software?
Thanks all.

Re: VMU Questions
I use the nexus memory unit and a cable, they send out a software to be used with it but it's old and may not work at all times, so i use VmsLink
You need to console powered up with a controler, then you need to power up your pc and connect the cable to your pc and controler, if everything goes well each time you try to acsess the saves the memory card will stop showing on the dreamcast menu (because only 1 device can read saves), then just transfer to nexus or the pc the files you want.
As for the game data, not all saves work with the game you have, this can be aplied to PSO or even soul calibur, i once downloaded a version of the game from dc-talk and unfortunatly it doesn't recognize my saves.
Keep trying.

Re: VMU Questions
Dreamcast VMU's are known for thier very short battery life. You can still save memory on them. If I'm not mistaken up to ten games can be stored on one VMU. I own two, mostly for it's arcade ports. My guess is your probably talking about DC/PC emulation, I've never modded a Dreamcast before, but I do know that you can mod it to run Linux.ScDream wrote:Having tons of phun with the new (new to me) DC.

With the batteries, the only thing you can do is play the Sonic Adventure chao mini games. Most of the Sega Net events with the VMU have long expired.
GameShark also works like a VMU.

Re: VMU Questions
I did a post here on how to make a power adapter for your VMU without soldering.

It's especially nice since unlike the dreamcast, it lets you copy your PSO files to another VMU. (:

Re: VMU Questions
I can't seem to get any mini games on my VMU. I grabbed the 1.30 VMU disc, and while it can play minigames on the DreamCast directly, I am evidently not smart enough to figure out how to copy games over. Any clues appreciated.
Thanks.
Thanks.
