Finally got the chance to visit a Play-N-Trade

Hello all,

So starts another week of sitting in a cubicle posting on video game forums while listening to internet radio.

But before we all start feeling depressed I have a wonderful story to tell you. It seems that the town adjacent to mine has a Play-N-Trade! So instinctively my friend and I took a little trip there on Sunday to scope it out. What we found was a wonderful little shop that had pretty much everything a Gamestop or Babbages would contain but also had a very, very, impressive Retro-gaming section filled with old carts, discs, controllers, and a vast array of neo-retro consoles.

I was about to buy the new Silent Hill on PS2 but decided to just browse through all the Sega Genesis cartridges. My friend bought the 3-in-1 Retro console that could play SNES, Sega Genesis, and Nintendo 8-bit carts. He also purchased GoldenEye for N64.

Oh, and last but certainly not least, there was a very competent Dreamcast section. They didn't really have any rare peripherals but they did have some very nice controllers and games. I think the highlight of the visit was actually getting a chance to see and hold a Coleco vision controller, TG-16 controller, and Atari 5200 cartridges. None of which I've ever came close to before in my life.

Oh, and they had the hand held sega genesis AKA "The Retrogen" in stock. I saw two of them while I was walking around. Good times. Play-N-Trade!

That sounds really cool:D in Ireland you have to route through second-hand shops or car boot sales to find anything vintage. Goldeneye 64 it's such a good game if you have a 64 do you need it! did you buy anything in the end up?

Great post.

Great post.
That's interesting,

Here in the states we have Salvation Army stores and Thift Marts but I rarely see anything of interest in there other than old VHS tapes.

To answer your question, No, I didn't end up buying anything. Recently my eyes have been larger then the amount of leisure time I have. I've bought numerous games in the past year and sadly haven't had any time to play them. To give you an example, This weekend was the first time in a while I got the chance to sit down and play some Sega Genesis (Primal Rage & EarthWorm Jim). Most of the time after work I'm a slave to fast, mindless, multiplayer FPS PC games. AVP or COD5. Hopefully I can work some consoles gaming back into my schedule.

Play n Trade is pretty good, but there are none in Greenville, only in Columbia.
Goodwill is here though, in walking distance.
Play n Trade I visted had some really cool stuff, but only like 6 DC games.
did have a 3-in-1 though.

I have a feeling that my friend and I may be going back there this weekend. I hope Tekken 5 is available.

You guys are lucky. I live close to Fort Bend County and all we have is "Games Plus" and "3D Games".

Although the 3D Games in the Katy Mills mall has a huge selection of new and older retro titles, lot of nice Dreamcast games, I would like to visit a Play N' Trade if I can find one in my area.

Greenville, S.C.?

So, we have The Video Game Cavern on Wade Hampton Boulevard across from Brunswick Bowling. And Darkside Games on Pelham Road on the lower level of the Publix Shopping center, though there selection is hardly worth mentioning.

I visit the Darkside Games almost daily,as it's pretty much right across from my house. I almost never buy anything, but I just like hanging out there and playing the 360 there. I did buy Taz escape from mars there. $5
