Final Fantasy VIII

So I grew up loving the Final Fantasy games and the eighth installment of the series happens to be my favorite. Anyway, I've gone through about five copies of the game because I keep having the same problem; the first disk freezes up either during the intro CG or during the SEED test. This has happened with every copy I ever owned. So I'm wondering is it just me or has anyone else experienced this. Also, do you think getting the disk buffed would help?

this sounds like a hardware problem.
are there any problems with other games?

The intro freezing happened to my brother. He just cleaned the disc and it worked fine.

No other games ever really give me this problem. Penta what did your brother do to clean the disc?

water will clean it fine. just make sure you let it dry.
If your using a ps1 or a slim ps2 you can do a swap trick with a burnt copy.

Water is indeed a life saver in such situations. Glad that you played well now.
