Go to a mechanic. Maybe something else overheated and you are not aware of it, and if you keep using it its gonna get worse and worse.

And if thats the case, when youll finally go to the mechanic its gonna be too late and the repair cost will be epic.

Where was the leak coming from? This is something up my ally, I restored a few cars as well as ripped engines apart and successfully glued them back together (lol).

Possibilities:
1. If you are lucky, it is a hose. There is a hose near the bottom of the radiator that connects to the water pump/engine. This hose is usually cheap and never too much of a problem in my experience.

2. It might be a freeze plug. These things do "pop-out" of the engine block and are typically cheap to buy and replace. They are the round things on the engine block that are about the size of a USA 50-cent piece or a "loony" ($1.00 Canadian coin).

3. If it's the radiator, buy a new one for about $150 - do not buy a used one. Swapping out the old with the new is not usually difficult.

4. It's the water pump. The pump could have blown a seal, and o-ring or spun a bearing at the pulley area of the pump. Most pumps are not too much money, but the work can be intense if you own a car with a great deal of obstructions.

5. Intake manifold cracked or gasket leaking where it mounts to the engine head. This more than likely will cost you being the manifold will have to be replaced, which is cheap if you own a Dodge K-Car, anything else will cost you for the part and labor, particularly if you have an engine with a distributor running through it (like a 8-cylinder GM - bastards).

6. If it is a cracked block or head, I hope your buddy is really good, this one will cost you Mega PSO meseta or Sonic gold rings.

7. There are other weird things like leaking at the tubing for the heater core, the heater valve leaking, etc...

Good luck, keep us posted.

Well from what i know the leaking is coming somware from under the engine coolant tank. but from what i know is i cant see it. it doesent leak unless the car is moving. but the car will overheat if standing still if that helps at all?

Ok after getting my mechanic god friend to come over, another one stopped by to help out. He thought it was the heating core or somthing so i went to the store and bought a new one for $10 and coolant for $10. then we went to test it. bitch heated up and all the coolant was draining from the pipe that connects to the heater. so he was like well ill just run a pipe through to connect to the engine instead of the heater. now theres still a little smoke from the anti freeze but the car doesent leak it anymore. im gonna drop him $50 for fixing it.

Ok, he bypassed the heater valve and heater core. If it was the heater core, usually there is a green puddle in the car on the floor. You'd smell anti-freeze quite a bit in the car when heating it or using the defrost.

If it was the heater valve, (which is a somewhat of a quick fix), then this would be cheap but maybe there is a problem with the connection at the fire wall (the rubber hose connecting the heater valve to the other parts of the car).

Can you tell me the model/make/year of the car in question?

Well, in the province I once lived in already did. They were the reason I was exported from Canada to the USA.
