Sorry, I am unfamiliar with this. If I find any info I will let you know. Good luck with what you are trying to do. Sounds very cool.

only problem is i need to figure out howto swap the face of lan di with ryo's face.

if any1 can figure out howto unhide the files in the what's shenmue belokk release, i could use the beta models and other textures from what's shenmue and swap with Shenmue 1 textures/models.

i know lan di, and ryo have a beta model and Yukawa-san, and coca-cola labels are also in what's shenmue. It would be nice to add them to Shenmue 1.
I have the same problem as you when I swaped ryos high poly model(from the shenmue passport).Ryos regular head pops up during conversation and it reverts back to the low poly model(the whole body) when not in the Hazuki house or dojo.

Its not a texture difference. The whole model is different.I suspect He might be around 5,000-10,000 triangles in polygon count as oppose to the regular model who is no more than 2,000 triangles. Then the texture difference is major, for example the jacket texture for the regular model is 128x128 pixels while the high poly model 512x512.

It seems this is not something that likes to "be fixed". I did an experiment on changing pixels with various programs to work in other programs. What I found is that it is very dependent on the software that is actually presenting or "reproducing" the image textures to be seen by the end user. I am not saying this is impossible, what I am saying is this "altering" of the image is always a problem to do and maintain a usable format.
