I wanted to put this topic down to see what people think about how great Sega currently doing. I mean mean with new releases, new games, and how you think their decision to make Dreamcast games DLC is. How do you think Sega has been doing recently?

Their original stuff like Yakuza and Valkyria Chronicles has been very good, but their sequels to old franchises... Mostly terrible, to be honest.

I think Dreamcast games on download services will be great if they bring back the online functions. Hopefully they release online Propeller Arena eventually :)

To me Sega has been falling behind in recent years. When they first became a "software only" company they still made plenty of great games. The Super Monkey Ball franchise being my favorite. Even though they kind of let Sonic down with their cross-platform Sonic games they have made plenty of other good ones. They made one of the best football games of all time NFL2k5. It was one of the first football games to compete with Madden and they made Madden buy the rights to the NFL and be the exclusive NFL video game maker. NFL2k5 still has a striving community and they still make roster updates for the game. Heck if you have a 360 you can still play online with it. Those days were great.

Unfortunately when the new generation of consoles came out they started making some half-assesd titles (Mario and Sonic Olympics). The Iron Man 2 game was a huge blunder. But with their new decision to make Dreamcast downloadable titles they seem to want to change direction. I read that they want to focus more on DLC now.

I just hope that they can pull it together and make some new great original titles. The new "2D Sonic game" I have been hearing about sounds very interesting and I hope this can be a turning point for Sega.

I like Mr. Sega, but not Sega...

Sega abandoned us and did not even throw us a life-raft!
At the least, Mr. Sega says "hi" to us!

Hey, Sega, nice Sonic games...where's my Shenmue 3?

Current Sega? Well, they are cleaning up after themselves and starting to get better at their work. Such as Yakuza, Sonic 4, Sonic Colors, etc. Their idea to go with Dreamcast games on Digital Distrobution is excellent, because having Sonic Adventure (soon Shenmue, perhaps?) on my Xbox's HDD makes things soooo much better.

Older, 2000's Sega ... not so much.

I think the reason they didn't make a Shenmue 3 is because Shenmue 2 didn't sell good and that's because There wasn't enough people who were into the series that owned an Xbox. If it becomes a hit on DLC then Shenmue 3 could be coming.

Back on topic: I just hope Sega can get a hold of themselves as a company and make some quality games.

I wouldnt rely to much on that; most people that download games from the marketplace of that kind is because they had the game before and they want to replay in a remastered version. They are, by far, the less sold games on the whole market. Games such as Sonic, Streets Of Rages, After Burner, etc.. They only interest fans of the series. Casual gamers who doesnt know the game will just say "graphics sucks, im not paying for that shit".

Too bad for them..
