The problem is when I do the swap trick Q3 starts to connect then it freezes up. Does anyone know why it's doing that?

Try to set your dns servers to 0.0.0.0

yeah, you should use the 2nd internet settings option in Q3. this way you wont have to keep changing the DNS.

For some strange reason I can use The 0.0.0.0 DNS settings to connect with Planet Web as well.

that isn't strange at all. 0's are the default setting. they should work for almost everything. some people might come into issues with it if their ISP requires the DNS to be set up. i used SBC a long time ago and they said to use 192.168.1.1 - 198.168.1.2 so i did. I'm sure 0's would have still worked though?

Then why do most people have to use the second server setting for Quake 3 and everybody uses the DNS Servers for everything else with a PC-DC Server.

couldn't say for sure, i'm sure that all the guides have it like that for a reason? i think some games might need the DNS set up. try running 4x4 evo with all 0's
