for things like this:

how to patch non vga games to vga mode:

-open the iso in a hex editor.
-search for the string "KATANA"
-at some point nearby you should see "JUE" followed by some numbers
-change the number string after "JUE" to "0799A10"
-save the file and burn
i think this is a great idea. it would make us more independent in the long run. if we have a problem with a game or if someone wanted to do something with one we could refer them to the threads.

what all would you want to include?

this list is not 100% accurate!
racketboy wrote: Coaster Works = TV Only
this is way wrong. i am sitting here with coaster works playing on my VGA monitor and i didn't even have to use the swap trick. its just flat out VGA ready.

racketboy wrote: Iron Aces = TV Only
this is not true either. i should clarify somethign first they have the games listed as TV Only even if they are patchable but the ones that can be tricked do have patchable next to them. and they did not include patchable next to iron aces. and it is indeed patchable.

i wonder if region plays a role in the list. i guess one regions might support VGA and another may not. anyway i do not have the time to check all the games listed that i have. i own damn near all of the ones i know to be US games on this list. so checking all of them would be a pain in the ass.

smith wrote:i have been going through my collection and patching games to run native vga support.

i just recently patched coaster works, so yes it is patchable.

the list shows hydro thunder as patchable, i have had no success with the patch.

it also shows nhl2k2 as vga compatible, again i had no success patching this one either.
why are you trying to add a patch to games that already support VGA mode? there is no reason to patch games that already support VGA. such as Coaster Works and NHL 2k2, fyi all 2k sports games are VGA ready, Coaster Works too. all native!

as for hydro thunder this is one of my favorite games and it can be tricked into working in VGA. i am not sure how you would patch the game and then burn a new copy. all of the ones i have are real GD-roms so i use boot discs. and all are NTSC-U

Very good list, smith. I'm going to make a new sticky thread for this. Please keep normal discussion about this to this topic.

If you have updates to the list just post them on the sticky and ill update.

smith wrote: hmmm, tricking the game into vga with a boot disk. i would not mind trying it since i have 5 games that will not run in vga after being patched. do you use dc-x? i need a vga compatible boot disk lol
i use DChakker and codebreaker. the last time i played hydro thunder i used codebreaker. i think using codebreaker was a lot easier. just load it up, do not select any cheats and play hydro thunder.

smith wrote:gary_b pls make a skies of arcadia ntsc/u rip since no1 has made one. this way i can play soa in vga! :) j/k

here is a link to a raw dump of the NTSC-U skies of arcadia http://snesorama.us/board/showthread.php?t=29541 this would have to undergo surgery to fit onto 2 CD-r's. if you want to you could do it :D i kinda hope you do and then upload it  as i don't own this game. its one of the few good DC games i still have to buy.
