Hehehe.
There was no need to bring along my own DC.
Redspotgames had two DCs at their booth, with RRRR and Wind & Water respectively. Since SEGA was too cheap to buy their own booth

, I spent most of my time there and got myself into some good discussions regarding... future DC projects.
(Roughly translated from German AND my memory

)
Code: Select all
CDC: I was so hoping for Solar Struggle to be on the Dreamcast...
RSG-guy: Yeah, but you can believe me: From a technical standpoint, it is not possible. Well, there is a new Dreamcast project for 2011.
CDC: 2011?
RSG: Yeah, if everything goes smoothly. But I just can't tell you anything about it.
CDC: ...Pretty Please?
RSG: No. But don't you worry, we won't let the dream die.
CDC: (That's MY line!!!)
2011. That was more than enough for me.
Code: Select all
RSG: So, have you bought RRRR and Wind & Water already?
CDC: ...I, errr, always like... y'know... mail order ain't my thing....
RSG: Well, you can buy them both right here!!!
CDC: What about Last Hope?
RSG: Sold out.
CDC: Damn, well, I'll take RRRRDX and Wind & Water
Wow, I actually BOUGHT a Dreamcast game. No, even TWO of them!
DAY 2
Magic happens.
Guess who came to visit: Senile Team, RRRR's developers! To be honest, I went into some kind of fanboy frenzy. Especially after I had a match with Roel, the "chieftain". He tried to let me win, but still I couldn't catch up to him. No, it wasn't even close T_T
Roel and Jeroen even signed my copy of RRRR and gave me a poster and the alternative cover for free. Liënne the animator was there as well, but never said a word to me. My best guess is that she doesn't speak english. Well, we talked a bit about the greatness that is RRRR and Dreamcast programming, nothing overly spectacular.
No progress was made on finding out more about the 2011 project.
Code: Select all
CDC: One slushy please, andsomeinfoonthe2011projectkthxbai.
RSG: The slushy is free for you, but the info is 20000 euros.
CDC: ...
Video defending doesn't pay off nearly as good as you'd believe it to, so 20000 bucks was too much.
DAY 3
RSG-guy wrote:Don't you have somewhere else to go?
Well, I spent most of saturday with a friend, checking out some booths (and harrassing some PS3 fans at their booth. Good stuff). After that, we met Senile team in the hallway, and since they recognized me, I decided to ask a bit more... ABOUT 2011!!
Code: Select all
CDC: Sooooooo, will Senile Team be developing the super secret 2011 project?
Roel: ?
Some other RSG guy than before:  How do YOU know about the project?!
CDC: (Uh-oh. Sounds like the "cool" RSG guy is in trouble) The almighty interwebz.
Roel: Weeeeeeell, maybe Senile Team is working on something for DC, or maybe not.
The RSG guy: Let's just say that somewhere on earth, someone is coding for Dreamcast right now...
CDC: (I thought I had them this time...) Well, bye then and thanks for your time and the game!
DAY 4
Just a small conversation:
Code: Select all
CDC: Well, I'll be going now. See you in 2011 together with your new DC game... which is gonna be a fighter!!! (Bluffing to the max!)
The cool RSG guy: It's not a fighter.
CDC: Well, you gotta admit, it was worth a try
RSG: *serious expression* No.
It's not a fighter, that's for sure. He answered way to fast to hide something.
Well, that's everything DC related from GamesCom.
... There was also a Retro Museum where almost everyone stopped at the DC and said something nice about it, except the 1337 kiddies.
