The normal versions of these tags, [thumb][/thumb] and [backcolor=][/backcolor], don't work, I tried multiple alternate versions of them and none have worked.

Does the current forum version support them, or an alternative of them?

Yes you can create your own bb code. If the html exists then you can make bb code from it. I'm not sure if a hyper linked image would work all in one tag.
