Doom DC is a homebrew port hat can use it but the BBA came in when the Dreamcast was almost dead so not many games utilize the DC.

Well, many games did use it, but they have since had their servers pulled. This makes me wish the DC didn't have PC-like Dedicated servers, and did something like the Xbox does with CoD and other games where it makes the user host games instead of a better and faster dedicated server.

Some have, but truth be told, you would need the dedicated server files to host somewhere, and Sega and the other developers don't want to give them out for free, which makes no sence to me.
The only reason the other 5 DC games are still playable online are because they have PC counterparts, and PC almost always has a dedicated server 9 times out of 10. Since the Dreamcast is basicaly the only console to have cross platform MP with a PC on a wide scale, the PC servers are ideal for hosting Dreamcast dedicated servers too.

Maybe, if we had hundreds of thousands of dollars. They would want to keep onto their files for future ports if they haven't already trashed them to begin with.

Sure, the government keeps cd's in the national library for safekeeping for future generations.

The Xbox was released on November 15, 2001, on November 15, 2002 Xbox Live was Launched.
On, April 15, 2010 Xbox Live was canceled.
On Oct 22, 2000, Quake 3 Arena was released, Quake 3 Arena, is the oldest commercial Dreamcast game that is still online, not counting the Web Browsers, or Sega Swirl.
As of November 13th, 2010 (today) Quake 3 Arena is still online for the Sega Dreamcast.
For the Xbox the online life span was a little less then eight years.
For the Dreamcast it is 10 years and still counting.
I don't know about you, but I prefer the dedicated servers over the Dreamcast for this and many other reasons.
Note: This was made without Xbox Connect and Xlink Kai in mind.
Too bad there aren't after market broadband adapters....

yeah dedicated servers are just better than matchmaking option, no matter how you look at them. Easier to remake them when its no longer officially supported, and theres no comparison possible when it comes to quality. It SUCKS SO HARD when the host is some poor mexican and it fucks up the whole game.
And theres a lot of games that because of that wont be playable anymore. Such as Cod modern warfare 2. And you can only use tunneling software when the game supports local multiplayer. Which is not the case of that game for instance.
Dedicated servers all the way.

Yeah the only thing better than dedicated servers is a LAN mode and that can be debated on. The fact that you don't have to remake servers though makes it great for when you don't have the servers up. Like the XLink Kai or Xbox connect that Team Xlink Mentioned.

Definately all the way! I am an avid PC gamer too just as much as I am all about the Dreamcast, and I know that Modern Warfare 2 sucked ass because they removed the Dedicated servers. I was one of the hundreds of thousands of PC gamesr that petitioned for the dedicated servers in MW2, and I boycotted them and still havent bought MW2 to this day.
When I said it would have been good to have something like peer hosting and host migration, then more games that utilized that Infrastructure could potentialy still be played online by many Dreamcast games to this very day. That would be the only good thing from having P2P hosting.
I will say though, that those bastards that shut down those dozens of dedicated servers for all those great MP Dreamcast games should be shot. MP is a big thing to me, and I have always prefered MP games on the PC to SP games. I have had more fun in all the BF and Cod games online than I think I ever did playing the SP campaigh on COD.

You don't have to set it in DMZ mode, you don't even have to port forward any more if you have UPnP enabled in your router.
No one suggested switching to Xlink-Kai and Xbox Connect.
