Phantasy Star Online Ver 2 Mag/photon question

Hey guys,

So I've started playing from scratch again as my favourite character type, Hucast. And I've just got my first mag up to lvl 35, it so far has learnt Golla and Farla, I was wondering if anyone had any tips or a guide for learning different photons etc? Personally I'd like a mag that has Estla, Myla and Youlla and Pilla, but have no idea how to go about feeding one up for these photons... I don't really care what the mag looks like though. IS it this even possible as a Hucast?? If anyone has any Mag evolution guides, specifically what items grant you which photons etc that would be awesome.

My character is about lvl 17, he's just started finding some of my favourite weapons again such as Partisans, Brands, Mechguns etc, forgot how much I loved playing this game legit, my BBA will probably be a few weeks yet as its coming from Japan but once it arrives I will hopefully be online at least once a week!

cheers

You can use this mag farm program, it will be nice to test things before making them in the game
http://www.pso-world.com/downloads/MagFarm.zip

2nd
This link contains all mag combinations that can be made for hunters, you will know in each evolution the mags that you can have.
http://www.pso-world.com/sections.php?o ... artid=1240
You are asking for a mag with estilla among 2 evolution pbs and that is not possible if your playing as a hunter, you need a ranger to get that pb in 1st place, then raise the mag and then transfer it to a hucast and raise it to a level where it evolves, or you can just make a ranger do the stuff and then when all 3 pbs are done, transfer it over to the hucast.

since these feedings+new char creation take too much time, i recomend a mag with:
Farlla
Myla and Youlla
Pilla

This will pretty much be enough, so you have 2 ways, by looking at the evolutions we can evolve like this:
Varuna > Marutah > Ila
or
Varuna > Vayu > Ushasu

3rd
Each mag has a formula
http://www.ragol.co.uk/mags.shtml

4th
Each mag has a specific feeding and you can use the mag farm to test things, you can save the log with the feeding
http://www.ragol.co.uk/magsep1.shtml

5th
After all 3 pbs are done, simply choose a mag you like and raise the stats to that formula, either that or raise the stats you want.
When your stats become maxed, your mag stats will not benefit you, but that only happens much later, but it's something to consider in case you want a 2nd or 3rd mag

:D

awesome tips mate, thanks very much. I tested out on the little program, marked it as a purplenum hucast and fed him antidotes and antiparalysis and it went to Marutah as expected after Varuna so it had Farla and Pilla already, then I switched to Power and it went to Ila and learned Mylla, is Mylla the one with the twins? Is that the one where they heal you or Shifta And Deband you? as long as I get the Pilla and the twins where you get Shifta and Deband I'm not too fussed about the 3rd.

cool so once I've got the 3 pbs, I have to follow what it says under "stats" on that list right? If I want to change it after that is. so in theory the only ones I can evolve it to are Varaha, Bhirava, Nandin, Ila, Kabanda and Ushashu. So far I seem to be able to get a nice Ila with Farla, Pilla and Myla, those are the PB's I would want (assuming Myla is the one that does Shifta and Deband?) but then if I keep feeding it to get the stat boosts I want I always seem to end up with good ol Varaha.... which is one I've seen soooo many times it isn't even funny! If I wanted to and got mag cells are there any nice ones I can get to make a bit of a change? Or is there any way to get a different one than Varaha after my stats are up?

could be I'm missunderstanding how it works once you've got the pb's you want. cheers again mate

Myla and Youlla are the twins that give you shifta and deband yes.

Once you have 3 pbs, you cannot learn more, so the mag you want doesn't matter much unless you want the right mag abilities, but the main thing is that you can evolve the mag to anything you want after lvl 50, it's up to you.

So the stats you like created the mag Varaha (POW > DEX > MIND ( DEF < 45 ))
If the mag formula keeps like this, if the id keeps the same and even if the char keeps the same, Varaha will be your mag for a long time.
But the build where you focus on Pow and Dex are great, i cannot recomend anything better.
You can:
- Raise a new mag in a different char.
- Alter the formula wich will have stats you do not like, however, you can use that mag for now and you can raise another mag for when you reach high levels.
- (as you said) Get a mag cell, that will permanently affect the mag apearence.
Mag cells are hard to find btw.

For now those stats and the mag are great (even if the mag is ugly lol), but consider it as a sacrifice in order to make a second mag in wich you will like.

Take my example, i have mags with 150 mind or crazy stats like 90 Pow and 90 def, I've reached a point where only the mag pbs, abilities and apearence matters, meaning there will be a time where the varaha extreme POW will not matter and you will focus on other things

awesome, I think I will probably stick with Ila, I definitely want to get those 3 Photon blasts, then I can just experiment with going between DEX, DEF and POW to get the best stats at the end while still ending up with the less ugly Ila lol.

I guess I could probably live with either but if I ever fancied trying to change one, if he's reached 200 I can't can i? and if I wanted to change it to another style that a Hucast wouldn't get I would have to just give it to a new character immediately after getting the 3rd PB I suppose? for instance, I couldn't get Marika as a Hucast could I? I'd have to give it to a force right?

in which case I think that will be my course of action, to just get the 3 pbs I want and not worry too much about the appearance until/if I get a cell. cheers mate

Side note, I found a book of Katana again when I killed a Sinow Beat (Think thats what it was called, the dudes who drop down from the ceiling in the mines) I can't remember what you have to do with them but I know you could if you were lucky get the Katana blade... how does that work again? cheers bud

EDIT

Ok I just did a little play and it seems to be getting more complicated... it seems I need to also factor in the 4 abilities boxes lol. I'd like to keep the invincible at 100 PB Meter, and the Boss Reaction as Shifta/Deband. seems this will require more investigation, I think if I truly want to keep my mag the way I want it I may have to pup up with Varaha once again... sigh lol

You can get any mag, but remember that the mmag formula after lvl 50 happens at every 5 levels, so if you have a Marika at lvl 199 and then raise it to 200 as a hucast, it would change to a hunter only mag, if the mag is lvl 200 then you can only change it's apearence if you give him a mag cell.

Book of katana has no use actually, it's a collector's item i guess, the oraotiagito oly needs the real agito, the books are not required.

As for the mag abilities, yes, you need to search wich mags suit you on that, the coolest mag may have crappy abilities and sometimes that's not what we want.

With your section ID you also can make ushasu. This mag looks bad ass, and has invisibility as well. My black Hucast no longer benefits from stats, so I made one of these, very happy in ultimate :)
