Finally got one - ordered it before I went on holiday from ebay and it was waiting for me when I got home from work earlier!

Really pleased with it - paid £170 with shipping from Germany to UK which I thought was an ok price.

Only BUT is that the screen is abit dodgey!! I've read that the white Treamcasts (early ones) are prone to screen problems but the problems I'm having are quite bad - on start up its sometimes perfect or sometimes the screen is slightly warped (almost like someones holding a magnet beside the screen).

also I tryed 3 games 2 PAL games (Sonic Adventure & Skies of Arcadia) and a BOR burned disc and all 3 games the picture was half off the screen.

Also sometimes when the games loading - when the laser is working hard the screen flickers - and its in time with the laser making me think there might be a bad earth or live feed somewhere.

Bit annoyed at this - dunno weather to open it up an look for dodgey connections/soldering or ask for a part refund (which I can't see happening).

opinions people :| :| :?

I would ask Adam - I think he has one. I recall seeing a video of some one having technical difficulties with their tremcast (it might have been adam), which he had to actually start spinning the disc some times to get the motor to start.

It was me, the motor seems to suck (as he said) but I've never had issues with the screen.

Sad reality is those things are poorly made pieces of crap.

See the spinning issue here if you like.

I bought my widescreen Treamcast a couple of months ago and paid about £70 as it wasn't working. My genius uncle fixed it for pennies. Then fixed it again....and again......til he got bored.

I agree with Adam, they are not very well built. The lid doesn't close very well on mine and the screen quality is poor. I think they are a collector's curiosity more than anything. I've thought of transplanting the innards of a standard DC into the Treamcast plus replaceing the screen but that's a pipe dream really so for the foreseeable future it is destined to spend it's life at the back of a cupboard.

Apparantly the black ones are the best Treamcasts to buy. Why that is I don't know.

Well the good news it seems the fault was only acouple of silly things!

Since I didn't get a 240-110 adaptor I've been trying it with the in car adaptor - seems my car doesnt hold 12v with only the ignition on - with car running it plays fine! Also the problem with half the picture being off screen was merely a nstc/pal clash - when playing sonic adventure earlier it was fine! :-)

So I now feel abit silly lol but just pleased it's ok!

The thing amazes me - as said they're quite poorly made - under the disk lid around the laser bit the cuts are so rough and as said on too - the lids don't close very well either - but I love it! Certainly won't be selling it :-)
