I just found this NTSC-U Metallic Silver Dreamcast on eBay. I'm pretty sure it's just spray painted but what do you think? I thought there were only two Dreamcasts released in North America. The Black Sega Sports Edition and the regular model. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Edit:
They're just crawling out of the woodwork now! Take a look at this "Special Edition Sega Sports" Saturn I just found:

The Sega Sports sticker is crooked for goodness sake!

I'm Certain that it's just a paint job (and not a very good one at that). You can tell it's not an official Silver model DC due to how you can see from the lid tray gaps that the inside of the DC is white and not silver. Also the official DC logo on the lid on the silver model DC is black not white.

That's what I figured. Not sure if the seller doesn't know or is just flat out lying.
Welcome to Dreamcast-Talk by the way. I hope you enjoy it here. It's a great site!

Yea the gaps on the rear lid are the give away. Is the seller actually listing it as a limited edition?
The front left corner even has a rub mark where the paint has been rubbed off.
The only LE silver dc is the one with black accents (button/front grill/matching controller). Its also a japanese system, if that makes any difference.

Yup, he says it's a rare limited edition right in the description.

Thank you so much!

The hospitality is greatly appreciated! Been lurking for some time as I recently stumbled into this site. I find the community on this site very passionate so i figured, why not! I love Dreamcast! that seems like a strong common ground

Ah another quick way to see if its a legit system, is all original / official systems have the small SEGA logo stamped over the controller ports. Even rare japanese systems (like the color runs, the Sakura system, R7's, etc) have this.
Those custom clear shells and most paint modd'ers don't include this. The modder would have to go quite a bit above and beyond to make that stencil/sticker for the system.

Didn't even notice that. Nice tip!

when I see something like this on ebay I usually send em a small pm bout how this is against the rules & how they can get banned for life if ebay found out, etc... usually helps em clear up their act
or: you can actually buy it, & report it to ebay afterwards. you'll end up with a dreamcast AND a refund

I did send them a message informing them it's just a Dreamcast painted silver. They probably have no clue as they don't specialize in video games. They sell games, train sets, decorations, etc...
