Just wanted to ask about this futuristic racer. Is it online only? Or can some single player or local multiplayer fun still be had with it? Also, what is the value of this game (in US $)? Thx :)

I've never played it, but I researched it intently about two months ago for a prospective purchase before deciding it wouldn't live up to my expectations.

Here are the facts:

-It can be played offline
-Offline modes include 2 player splitscreen (not 4 player)
-The game is not in high demand and you should be able to find lots of copies for under $10. It can be found for under $5 as well
-The game cannot be played online anymore
-One of the (6?) tracks, and a few of the cars were only unlockable if you raced online back in the day... so you might need to find an old save game file online in order to get access to those
-The game was made with the Speed Devils engine and may play similar to that game (for me this was a bad thing to find out as I hate the Speed Devils gameplay and how the cars control)

Apparently the overall consensus is that it is a very mediocre game, and does not live up to the fun or replay value of Pod 1 (there are literally only a handful of tracks and cars, compared to the dozens that Pod 1 had.) The main feature and selling point for the game was the online play.

I believe the general consensus round here is that, regarding futuristic racers, Magforce is the best on Dreamcast. I played it not long ago and it was better than I previously thought. If you're a fan of Wipeout then I think you'll like Magforce.

Pod is a bit...............pants.
