MSR, Can't save???

Hi everyone. I recently picked up MSR and started it up; great fun, beautiful graphics, not too realistic to the point of non-enjoyment (I drive everyday, fuck realism). I played through a few levels and the autosave was going great but then it told me after another race that I had no saved data and my memory card was full (?!). I tried googling the issue but the only thing I found was someone saying to use a blank memory card which is what I was using in the first place. I was using one of those beautiful 4x memory cards and I've never had a problem with it before but when I checked the data on it to see if the save was still there it told me the card was corrupted and needed formatting. Most of my memory cards are near full so I don't want to try out another and risk losing a card worth of data. Has anyone else had this issue or know of a way to fix it? Thanks for the help.

Is it a third-party 4x memory card or the official one? The third party ones are known to have issues with corrupting saves.

It is third party, I guess I'll try to move data around to find space for MSR on one of my VMUs. Thanks for the fast response!

Yeah sounds like a memory card issue, and not an MSR specific one. Wish the game wasn't so dark, I definitely drive really poorly when it is a nighttime race.

Couldn't agree more, I bumped up the brightness but its still rough. I play the Dreamcast for the bright colors lol and this game is fucking hard!

Yeah, I think that's one of the reasons the game feels so frustratingly difficult. It's hard to see where you are suppose to go because it so dark. I wish the game was dark in the same way that the TXR series is on DC
BrianC: can you please provide a picture or brand name of the memory unit you had this save issue with MSR? I think it would be help others such as myself to avoid this particular memory unit

It's not one of the infamous MSR bugs is it ? BrianC, have you got the Pal or US version ? The early released Pal version are known to be broken. Just a thought........so don't panic ! I'm probably not correct anyway and tbh my first instinct agrees with what everyone is saying - it does sound like a VMU problem.
Also, and I don't want to alarm anyone here, but the official vmu has been known to currupt my files from time to time. Not often though, I have to admit. I think all brands are prone to it and lot of it is just pure bad luck anyway - like it's 'bad memory' or something.
Btw, for anyone who's interested, rjay did a video review of MSR which is worth watching. Actually, the whole review thread is worth a look. See the review section. Er, obviously

You know, to my recollection I've never had an issue with corrupted files regarding official VMU's and Performance Brand Memory cards (the later being the very first DC item I bought). Additionally, I'm very suprised I haven't hand such issue considering I use Dream Explorers addition 42 block feature on all my memory cards and I hear they that is another issue in of itself regarding corrupted files, but I guess I'm very lucky I suppose.

Yeah, I was playing Virtua Tennis not so long ago (using an official VMU), and tantalisingly close to getting to No1 on the World Tour, when it corrupted. I wasn't a happy bunny when that happened ! It had taken me a month of playing it to get that far
