My first DC

Hi everyone,

I hope you do not mind if I ask my questions here. Please dont bash me, I am not very good at technical stuff. I want to know some things.

I just bought my first DC with a VGA box.

1. How do I burn DC backups correct? I found this guide, is it still up2date?
http://dcisozone.com/tutorial/21/burn-d ... time!.html
If not, should I just use the default settings? Or even use another program? Nero, CloneCD, Alcohol120?

2. Does DC-X read backups? Where can I find DC-X?

3. Do I need other bootdics?
http://dreamcast-talk.com/forum/utopia.php <- is this Utopia 1.2 (because I use VGA) in the download?
What other bootdiscs are good?

Im really sorry for asking those noob questions. Thanks.

Bella

Alcohol 120 Raw DAO

Most game images these days are self booting - no need for the seperate disk.

Yes but you need a bootdisc. I'm not sure what the policy is for linking here but go to dcisozone and find either dc-x or utopia boot disc, probably under the apps subfolder or something similar, and then you just pop that in, wait for it to load and then pop the game in! Good luck and I hope you enjoy your Dreamcast :D

Edit: sorry about that misread, I'm very very drunk right now, but what I meant was yes you need a bootdisc but it is actually very easy to find bootdiscs since some are homebrew and modding is way more complex without a whole lot of payoff on the DC

Final Edit before i pass out: I've never found a copy of utopia that works in VGA but I believe DC-X does. I usually just suck it up and play in S-video if all else fails but try DC-X since it works just as well as a boot disc anyways

Welcome to the Dreamcast scene!

Let's see, most back-up isos are already region-free so you do not need a boot disk.

If you would like to play commercial games that are not from your region, then you need a boot disk.

I hope that answers your question.
