The end of Sega Europe?

Post by DarkSynbios »

Today i found this sad news....wtf...

Sega Europe is expected to announce its closure?
On the eve of E3 2012, we are able to learn, according to our sources deemed credible, that Sega Europe should close down in the coming months and all local branches in Europe as Sega France. This is partly a consequence of the ineffectiveness of the strategy Sega for several years is to develop games by Western developers. In the aftermath, Sega should also announce, according to these sources, not to develop AAA games on consoles, but to focus on games and mobile phones dematerialized particular tablet. The last headline Sega developed by Creative Assembly will be presented at the 2012 E3 in a few days. For information, remind that Sega has announced that it will not be at GamesCom 2012.

Any reliable source? I just found deleted threads and "false rumor" pages about this news. SEGA Europe won't be at the gamescom but why would they close the doors?

It seems that, once again, reports of it's death are greatly exaggerated lol

I wish Sega would stop thinking the Dreamcast era was to blame for their problems. Circa 1998-2004 they were a creative force in the industry whose fate was primarily sealed by Sony and the Ps2, not the limitations of Sega hardware or software.

Sega could be great again, but not whilst they continue with their present business model.

Kind of a ridiculous rumor. Isn't Sega Europe the only non-Japanese branch left with any QA?

Sega of Europe is not closing down. They're downsizing and cutting down their 3rd party division to size.

The headline is incorrect. Though the site reports about SEGA no longer developing physical form 3rd party console games is true. SEGA will only develop PC games, mobile games, digital games, and portable 3rd party media.

Sega of Europe is re-organizing and restructuring. Remember that little multi-media trademark that SEGA filed from a few months ago called "ORBI"? Well this is part of that.

SegaSammy will soon become Sega Orbi.

SEGA is packing their 3rd party bags. Once Sega's "SEGA Corporation" brand expires this fall and they revert back to "Sega Enterprises", SEGASammy Holdings will Officially become SEGA Orbi Enterprises who's 3rd party structure will be niche while the company focuses on OTHER fields gaming and non gaming.

After 11 years, SEGA is leaving the console gaming market. Besides, SEGA doesn't blame the Dreamcast for losing talent, they blame Sony,Mircosoft and Nintendo's hardware limitations, stagnation in a gaming market not willing to invest in new and original games, and the all time expensive budget of developing games on their overseas 3rd party market's failure to profit.

The rumors forum got closed for a reason. Please don't bring that stuff into the rest of the forum.
