SCOURGE: Discussion, Help Wanted, etc.

Post by Corbyn »

Hey everyone! Glad to finally be a part of this site!

Just a heads up that we're recruiting help for our DC game, SCOURGE. If you don't already know, Scourge was pretty much born from the falling out we had with Hypertension. So - if you know/knew/recognize Hypertension, that's us (TDGMods).

A little description, it's a mixed-genre (FPS/TPS) psychological horror game being built with a modified Quake 2 Engine. We've been working through pre-production the last few months and are almost finished with the important engine functions (camera support, etc).

So, with that in mind, we are looking for the following:

* C Programmer - experience working with client/server, rendering...but most importantly, game code. This is extremely important that we get another, because we are overworked with engine maintanence. Without another one of these, it's going to be a long ride home.

* Set Designer - able to draft out (by pencil or otherwise) set pieces from detailed descriptions, for the level designers to reference from.

* Level Designers - this is a big one, as our one designer is overworked. We use a multitude of programs (QERadiant, GTKRadiant, Qoole, QuARK, etc) that support Quake 2 Maps. Can also support scripts (Lazarus DLL), etc.

*3D Modeler - we have one modeler, but he is overworked and needs help. Experience in this field is a must, especially working with lower poly models. We support the Quake 3/Quake 2 model formats, but we do not support skeletal animation of any kind (as MD3 is vertex-based). Character or Environment is a must.

If you are interested, please send me a PM here.

Thank you for your time!

You might want to even post this in the Lounge as many more people check there on a daily basis. I think everyone will be very excited to see that this project is still alive :D

did you try Duranik ?
http://www.facebook.com/Duranik
http://www.duranik.com/

they are two huge talented game designers (one programmer and one level designer/artist) responsible of the amazing STURMWIND.

I have absolutely no idea whether they could be interested, but for sure the would be of big help with their great experience of DC developping...

take a chance ! :)

That'd be awesome, do you have any samples? What kind of style do you compose in?

I've been writing music for quite a while and play a good variety of instruments, I can link you to a composition I made for a friend who was working on an RPG (I never touched it up and looped it properly so its kind of a concept more than anything) http://soundcloud.com/brianchase/compos ... roject-mt1 but I highly doubt that is the style of music you want for survival horror. If you wouldn't mind you could send me a script idea (just for a scene, I don't expect you to send me the script for the game :D ) and I can try to write you a couple concepts based off the mood and idea. If you're interested in giving it a go e-mail me at [email protected] :D

Hello everyone,

Just a quick announcement that we've uploaded some more screenshots on our Facebook page! That, and we're still looking for some talent in the areas of:

1) Level Design - ever use Radiant? Or Hammer? It's extremely similiar to any modern day map editor.

2) Texture Artist - good at textures/graphics? Well we need texture artists. What kind? Look at Silent Hill 2 for a strong indication of texture style.

That's about it. We're doing really good right now, and we have an awesome team bundled up. Lots of progress for one year, wouldn't you say? ;)

Oh, and we're planning on redoing assets that got us into licensing troubles with Hypertension, so we'll make that announcement at a later date.

Thanks as always!

Screenshots look great. The models look a lot more detailed than what I remember from hypertension. Thanks for the update and I hope you can pick up some good talent from here.
