Just a heads up that we're planning on releasing the first version of Dream3DGE, which is in turn based upon my GPL 3D engine, 3DGE (http://edge2.sf.net). As explained on our Facebook page, it's from an earlier version of EDGE (1.29) and documentation for it has since been removed. Since the 3DGE project is also hosted on our forum board (http://tdgmods.net/smf) I've created a section specifically for DreamEDGE.

What we hope to achieve with this first release is to get people who are interested in developing either Mods or Total Conversions of DOOM to jump on the bandwagon, as an easy alternative to the bigger engines that are harder to develop. Since mod making for DOOM is bigger than ever (http://www.doomworld.com/vb) people can learn with relative ease.
However, EDGE inhabits a niche market of DOOM engines since it's not as "advanced" as others. Obviously, this is false as Hypertension used the technology all the way up to it's cancellation (and now, the remake). So, we encourage any future users to navigate to our forums and create an account, because very few people outside of our own community know how to support the definition, RTS, and HUD scripts that's at your disposal.
Over there, we have compile instructions for the impending source code release. So, for people who just want to play DOOM/II/HACX/CHEX/HERETIC on the console, they'll be able to. Along with a host of mods (they must be pre 1.29, though), it should be quite exciting. Though, my ultimate goal here is to provide the everyday mod maker/beginner a chance to develop their own first-person adventure for the console. No doubt that this release will help that cause.
I'm cleaning up the source and will release it in the next few weeks. It's not as advanced as the current PC version of 3DGE, and there exists a few bugs, but it's working nonetheless.
The final version of the engine will be released when Hypertension HD gets released (as per GPL requirements). We have made additional modifications that we won't release until the time is ready, but something is better than nothing, I hope.
Thanks everyone!
