Is there a noticeable graphic difference between using the VGA adapter alone vs adding the Hdmi converter?
I've seen some videos online of people claiming the hdmi is much better is this true?

VGA outputs a 480p resolution (4:3 aspect ratio), so some people use HDMI to output 720p or 1080p for their 16:9 aspect ratio screens.
Depending on the native resolution/size of your screen, if you use 480p the image will be stretched and thus look more pixelated, so people use upscalers to circumvent this, converting it into bigger resolutions/aspect ratios and outputting though HDMI so it looks nicer on the screen.

Sure, I get how upscaling, I guess I was wondering if someone could verify first-hand that it looks better. Thanks for your response, thought.
I've got a couple of 45inch screens to play on and nothing smaller (both 1080p).

Well, it should indeed look better, but I don't know if it's really worth the investment, it all falls down to preferences.
You can always check some videos on YouTube about the matter and see for yourself, Adam Koralik that is also a member here at DC-Talk has some about it.
