VGA compatible boot disc?

Post by ch0pzta »

Hello all,

I need a boot disc that supports VGA, ive looked online, tried the Utopia 1.3 and DC-X, neither work, at best i get a "not supported" message on the screen and only sound from the game i try.

Do these discs have to be burned a certain way? Certain program? Ive tried discjuggler 6 (which does all other games perfect) and imgburn.

Ive also tried holding the A or start button when the DC-X boots as suggested elsewhere but nothing.

Does anyone have a solution?

for me; the dc-x does work, it just doesn't show it.
insert dc-x, wait till the disc stops spinning (possibility of screen staying black), insert your game, close lid & it will boot just fine

if you're trying to boot a backup, it is normal that it does not work.

DC-X and code Breaker are only intended for legit GD games. they will NOT work on backups.
but for what concerns legit GDs, they work well in VGA, and even allow to force the VGA mode on some games where the developpers forgot to rise the VGA flag.

beside this,

utopia 1.1 boots backups (as well as legits) but is NOT VGA compatible

utopia 1.2 includes the VGA update, but is bullshit! many games won't display in VGA although they are VGA compatible

utopia 1.3 = utopia 1.2 (it's the same file, only the name has changed. dunno why...)

in brief:

for booting legit import games, use DC-X or CodeBreaker (they work 100% with VGA)

for booting non selfboot backups, find another bootable backup image of your game and throw away utopia ! :x
