Cant find Quake 3 arena or Planet Ring Servers

I have a windows 98 vmware PC-DC server that I have gotten to work with the swap trick and browse the web. But when I try to connect my dreamcast to quake 3 arena and specify an ip address it says "scanning internet" then brings nothing up. Same happens for Planet Ring when It says "PPP Negotiating" it gets a message saying "no response from the login sever". Its been boggling my mind and I don't know what I could be doing wrong.

Ok, I do not know all of the details, but here is what I have experienced. Please note that my dial-up connects via the Netopia method.
1. Quake 3 = I also have this problem, but only on BBA. On dial-up, I have the DC-Talk server IP as one of my DNS entries in my DC setup. This makes a big difference on dial-up. I do get the server list on dial-up only.
2. Planet Ring = I use the boot disc, then I swap it out for my GD-ROM game disc when prompted to do so. Then it connects.

Thanks for the reply but I can't set my DC DNS to quake 3's servers because it freezes while logging in if the DNS isn't 0.0.0.0. I think I heard somewhere that this is a problem with the router I have but I don't see myself getting a new router anytime soon. BTW I dont use the planet ring patch disc, I have an autoconnect disc.

Regarding Q3, I have my primary set to DC-Talk (100.40.25.69) and my secondary set to 0.0.0.0 - this is recommended. I do not know what your router is, but I do know I have a weird thing with 4x4 Evo and Toy Racer with my year 2001 DLink router (or so I believe).
Regarding Planet Ring, I do not know anything about the autoconnect disc, sorry.

What do you put for the IP address?

I have provided a link below. Write down which server(s) you want to play on (IP & port). Then, after your DC connects and then gets the "Master Server List" error, click on the bottom right ("More" button), then enter the server IP/port, then click on the "Info" button on the bottom right. Then click on "fight" at the bottom.
Example: 173.69.38.20:27962 (this is the DC-Talk FFA server).

Fantastic! I got it to work, thanks for your help
So is the master server list always down? Is the only way to connect by entering the IP/Port of each individual server?

It should work. Works fine for me. Entering that IP address (minus the port number) in the DNS field should allow you to see the list.

I've entered it as my primary DNS but I get the No Response from Master Server message
Also, if I connect via the method Bob Dobbs suggested I am able to connect to 173.69.38.20:27962 but if I enter any other IP/Ports listed on the Dreamcast-Talk Q3A Master Server List I am able to see the game information (players etc) but cannot click 'Fight'...

The master list works fine. If it were offline then the list on this page
http://dreamcast-talk.com/forum/q3master.php would be empty. So the issue is with your configuration. I would try setting the DNS using your web browser instead. It's possible the settings set from your DC bios are overrriding Q3 settings.
