Hello Dreamcast friends

Hi folks, Shiner from Austin, TX here! Been a proud Dreamcast owner since early 2000 or so and still play that same unit to this day. Nothing worth bragging about collection-wise; my latest addition is a nice copy of Alone in the Dark, and I currently have SLaVe and Pier Solar on pre-order, so hoping to have at least one new Dreamcast game to play in 2015.
I'm also planning on building a new arcade stick for my Dreamcast. It will be my second one...my first one works great but is one of the ugliest things you've ever seen in your life. I'll try to post a pic to give you folks something to laugh about.
Just wanted to say hi!

Hello and welcome! We have many resources for the DC including what is still online and how to get your DC there.

Thanks guys! Glad to meet you all. Attached is a shot of that arcade stick as promised. That's right, the cable is coming out the wrong side. Always good to leave room for improvement.

It doesn't look that ugly--in fact, it looks like it'd be comfortable.

Hah, thanks guys! At least it's functional, and I've gotten a lot of use out of it. But I recently received the PS360+ I ordered, so hopefully I'll start building a new one soon.

Outside of the cable issue, the only problem I see with this stick is your buttons being spaced out too much and the use of Concave bottons over Convex (mashing on the former hurts like a mofo!).
Aside from that. It doesn't look ugly at all. It actually looks rather stable which is a good thing. I have a custom MAS stick for my DC so this stick reminds me of it.
What DC games do you typically use this on if I may ask?

So, this stick is basically an X-Arcade in a new body. I had an old X-Arcade with a Dreamcast adapter, and the thing was so big and unwieldy that I wanted to build a new one that was easier to deal with, and without all the hassles of adapters. So I pulled out the joystick, buttons, and PCB, built a new body, and coiled up the messy chain of adapters inside it for a more compact design. The control placement is the same as the X-Arcade, as I just traced the holes to create my template. Even though I carefully labeled every wire and microswitch, I still ended up with lots of stuff messed up when I re-assembled it (I think Up/down and left/right were reversed initially). And the cable came out the wrong side.

But yeah, for my next stick I'll get all new parts (the old sanwa vs seimitsu debate!), and probably use a different template altogether for the top. I'm certainly open to suggestions!

Soul Calibur, of course! Plus 2D shooters like Mars Matrix, Border Down, Ikaruga, Sturmwind, Under Defeat, etc. Gunlord as well. I'll still use the regular Dreamcast controller for anything with a z-axis or requiring an analog stick.
Thanks for your feedback!
