Bad news, Dreamcast-ers. My Sonic Adventure disc is not working properly. It's a shame. My favourite game on my favorite console is not working properly. What a pity.

Now first things first, when you load it up, it looks okay. The menus work fine, and there's nothing out-of-place. But when I try to load the Adventure Mode, it starts loading, but suddenly stops before I can go through the field.

When I go into the Trial Mode, there are some stages that I can't load, like Speed Highway (which happens to be one of my favourite levels). The stages I have played, which are Emerald Coast and Windy Valley, all have out-of-place textures and graphics. For instance, in Emerald Coast, Sonic's shadow is white and has a black outline, and the rings are a silvery colour instead of their regular gold. And for both stages, the animal cages are very quirky-looking. Some of the parts of it are covered with characters' faces, and other random textures. Oh, and the springs are blue, for some reason.

For me, this is nightmare fuel. I'm sorry that I can't provide any pictures. I will if I can.

After I saw this horrible image, I knew it had to be something with the disc. I did my spread-soap-around-disc trick multiple times, but it still didn't work.

So this is my question: What is the best way to get rid of scratches on Dreamcast discs? If you can help, please do. In the meantime, I'll go play some Crazy Taxi.

Your best bet is to put A LITTLE BIT of windex on a q-tip and try cleaning the laser GENTLY on the dreamcast. My SA doesnt work at all unless i do that.

The disc may be worn out considering the glitches you're describing. Soap doesnt sound too good for a disc either. The only way of repairing a disc 100% is resurfacing. But the cheap ones dont work that great. You seem pretty young by your posts lol a resurfacing machine would be a good investment as i see you mentioning your brothers on here, you would never have to replace a disc again (*and you could charge people to resurface*)

If else fails just burn a backup. You own the game so it'd be a legit backup, not illegal. Might make a burning guide for new versions of discjuggler here in a few hours

Thanks. I have heard of resurfacing, and I might consider doing that. I'm guessing you go to a video store (or any place that sells discs) to resurface it, right?

I think gamestop does it. Just call around, cant be that expensive. If the disc is worn out though i think the data on isn't readable anymore so a resurface might not help.

You can remove the fingerprints by simply breathing on the disc to fog it up and then wiping it radially with a tissue.

Anyways, the disc is working properly now, for the most part.
