Dreamcast In Simulated 3D

I recently got a Sony 4K 3Dtv and have enjoyed playing DC games in simulated 3D and upscaled in 4K. I've noticed that the games with the least amount of layers have the most pop such as the 2D fighting games. A lot of the 3D games look really good in simulated 3D..Games like THPS2 and Power Stone look super clean.
Other games with a lot going on don't translate over quite as well: in this case the TV will just add an equal layer of depth for all the objects rather than varying levels of depth.
I can elaborate more on the games, but does anyone have a 3Dtv and what are your experiences with playing older (DC) games in simulated 3D? I haven't really seen any other threads about this.. probably because 3Dtv's didn't catch on in general?

Is there any way you could take a picture of this? Would that even work? I'm curious what this looks like.

Sure I'll take a picture tonight but a 2 dimentional picture wouldn't reproduce what it actually looks like-each eye sees something different and its blurry without the glasses.
Update: I've been experimenting with 2D games because it simulates 3D the best with them and I kind of managed to get a picture. If you were viewing this in 3D, the top layer would be the pause menu and life bars. The next layer is the characters, the last is the background obviously. The tv seems to assign each layer or object a different amount of simulated depth depending on how fast it scrolls when you move left or right. See how the two pause menu images are closer together than the two images of the building in the background but the two images of the timer are even further apart than those? I just thought I'd share.

That's pretty cool, I also own a 3D tv, but it doesn't do 4K however, but I never thought to try games in 3D!

Really? Yeah the 4K doesnt matter but if you experiment with it you'll have to share your findings..Ive only tried about 20 games so far. Oh I forgot to mention Rez looks really cool in simulated 3D.

Hi. That's a good idea, never thought of that. Cool setup. I hope one day, they can make some kind of LCD that'll work with all kinds of light guns, starting from the 60's or earlier (with the realistic rifle arcade light guns from Nintendo for example). The whole CRT screen itself being the tranciever for the sensor (unlike with modern take like in the Wii or PS3) is more accurate and faster than sensors on top or bellow.
Sadly the crispiest and affordable way to play, light gun games like the House of the Dead 2 (best light gun shooter by far even compared to the latest), that's not a PVM or BVM in VGA is a PC CRT monitor but the problem is it won't work with the sensor of the Saturn's light gun coz' the frequency too high but works with the Dreamcast light gun. The flashing of the CRT also adds to the immersion even though that's a kind of side effect with CRT light gun tech.

Not sure what that has to do with the topic of this thread. Going off the amount of views (230+!) and not much replies I bet that no one here even has one and would rather spend what little disposable income they do have on more gaming rather than a "over optioned" tv. Its not surprising at all too because 3Dtv's and are about 5 years past their prime..somewhat a thing of the past. Hell I had to order mine from Sony direct because all the Sony (and other brands) models they had in stores were identical in every way but without 3D capability.

I tried the simulated 3D mode on my inlaws Bravia tv back in the day (was some kind of 2012-2016 flagship Sony model, been a while back)
The effect worked, but it wasn't very "smart" about how it implemented it. It simply made the top of the image look further away than the bottom half. It would assume you were watching a video for example, where the sky is on the top half, and ground near the bottom. I don't remember it being smart enough to try to detect objects or people from a scene and make them stand out properly.
Back then, he had a PS3 with Gran Tourismo 5 I think. It did support an actual 3D output mode (at some funny low 720p resolution and frame rate) but that mode did have proper per-object depth perception since obviously, it was rendering both eyes correctly. But the simulated 3D mode was just a simple top to down effect.
If it were done now a days I think it could work well. There have been a lot of advances in machine learning/AI that could prob do the trick, i mean just look at what phones do now a days with 3D filters and effects, some dedicated hardware in a TV box could do that now in realtime. But since no one cares about it, and the downsides were too much for 3D TVs (clunky, dim, flicker, etc) the tech kinda died off.
