i just bought some games from redspotgames to support the indie dreamcast games and because they looked good and were at a decent price.
some of these indie games seem to be priced unrealistically in my opinion and while i want to support the new games coming out i do have a family and bills and don't want to be soaked for every penny i have. all the more so when trying to still collect aaa sega titles etc.
that being said some games like Elysian Shadows seems to be priced pretty decent for what your getting (i will be getting it it looks awesome!) as is sturmwind ( I'm not a big fan of sumps but it looks really special!) and perhaps a few others.


what I'm wondering is do i have to go through the game publishers online stores in order to support the game makers or can i use sites like PLAY-ASIA or NEW YORK GAMES and still support the game creators? or are these sights like ebay and I'm buying used games with all proceeds going to the games owners?


that said redspotgames has a great sale going on for wind and water puzzle battles and rush rush rally racing right now! got both of mine last week. and i hear the maker of puzzle battles (which i can't wait to play with my wife) has another dreamcast game he may release!

By buying from e.g. Play-Asia, you support not only the developer and/or publisher of that particular game, but all developers/publishers, because then such websites will be more likely to stock indie Dreamcast games again in the future.

Buying directly from the publisher or the developer generally supports only that particular developer and publisher. But they won't have to share the profit with an online store, so that's nice too.

So both options are good. Just pick whichever seems best to you.

Redspotgames is an exception though, because they seem very reluctant to honor their agreements with developers. We've also received a lot of compaints about them regarding non-delivery, amongst other things. I would not recommend buying from them.

a lot of the stuff out already and on the way are really cool ideas and i am going to add a lot of the indie games in to my list of must buys all the more so now that i have learned more about it all. thanks and to the ones doing good stuff keep up the good work developers!
