BBA questions

I did a forum search on this and didn't find anything useful (using terms: bba, broad band adapter), so if I missed it and this is a redundant post please delete and PM me a link.
I plan on picking up a broad band adapter this tax season, what is a reasonable price? I've seen Japanese ones well under $200, will those work with an American DC?
I'm excited to have found this site, I've been DYING for some online PSO, I used to play back in the Sega-net days and it's still far and away my fondest online gaming experience
Thanks!

FWIW, there only are NTSC-J BBAs - they simply never came out in any other region...
(and yes, they - or any hardware for that matter - work on any region Dreamcast)
Nowadays, you should maybe take a look at the DreamPi method to go online, just a forum search away

Japanese bba will work with your DC for sure but i would search for a price much under $200 and yes a new
DreamPi method support more online DC games but it may be more complicated to set up. If you are looking to play just PSO and maybe Quake3 and Toy Racer then BBA is a good choice...

Finding a BBA for < $150 is pretty much impossible these days, but if you just want to play PSO, then it's the best and simplest choice.
NTSC-U BBAs do exist, as I have one. PAL is the only region that didn't get the BBA, but you can use any region of BBA with any region of Dreamcast.

To reiterate what some have already stated, there's no hardware difference between the Japanese and US BBAs at all. All BBAs will work on any Dreamcast, regardless of region (this says nothing about the software in the region, which may not have BBA support as readily available).
The only thing that's different is the packaging and what's included in the box (manuals, etc). The hardware is identical.

Thanks all!
I'll definitely be snagging a BBA then (I'm a minor game & rarity collector anyhow).
@Mstar- I took a look at trying the DreamPi, I may give it a shot next time I'm on vacation as its very cool. Sadly (despite tons of classes, and an AAS in a computer related field) the only people who are impressed by my computer skills are my 60+ year old parents, who once asked me "but will my email work on another computer?" So I'm not overly confident I'll pull it off.

Ive just been trying to get online via BBA > Q3A
currently its doing the freezing at the configuring part..
I had to enter all my stuff manually and have been using the ip listed in one of the threads as my primary and secondary DNS to get that close...
this is my original release day ntsc console.. its been 15-16 years since my DC was last online..
im going to do a pi eventually.. but right now frankly id rather spend the money on games..
I had hoped to get the BBA working in the meantime.. and it seemed like Q3A was one of the easiest games to get working..
