Dreamcast VGA Issues

OK so I recently got this VGA cable with an Amazon gift card I got for my birthday along with the console and games. Problem is...it doesn't work.

I'll plug in the VGA cable all the way and screw it in perfectly, but my HDTV won't pick up the signal at all.

I tried looking up issues relating to this but so far I haven't found a good solution. I'm thinking I might need to get an VGA to HDMI upscaler like this.

So is it like I think it is and I need to get an upscaler, or is there a workaround?

P.S.: Yes, the overall console works and it does output in Composite, but it just doesn't work with VGA.

Also, here's my HDTV model: JVC LT-19EM74 19".

First I would try using a PC monitor to make sure that the VGA box is working. Your TV may not support 480x640 through the VGA port. besides 720p, the only resolution that is listed is this one
With a 1366 x 768 HD resolution
I personally use a up scaling converter with my VGA box so that I can get 720p and I like the way it looks on HDtvs. My converter only has component if you do get one you might want to look into one that has HDMI as component is becoming obsolete.

I have a HDTV with a VGA that did not support the VGA cable. What resolved my VGA image issue was an old leftover Altinex Professional 5-BNC (RGBHV) 2x1 VGA switcher which allowed the image to be displayed on the HDTV but with a very slight degradation in the image. Obtaining a VGA to HDMI scaler/converter would most likely work for you if you do have a spare HDMI input on your HDTV as Gary_b has mentioned.

Just to note, not all games support VGA...just saying.

Hi,

I recently purchased a Tomee HD VGA Cable with RCA Sound Adapter and a VGA>HDMI Video Converter Box from Amazon. I hooked it up to my DC and my TV. Everything seemed to work. . . except one little flaw. . . Everytime I would play a game, I would notice these ghostly horizontal lines across my screen.

How can I troubleshoot this problem?
