Hi. Guys.
My current Dc will play gdroms and even some pressed cdrs. However certain cdrs wont load. The ghost blade runs but redux dark matters, last hope and neo xyx wont run. I believe burned cdrs wont work either.
Is it my dcs laser? Does it need recalibrating?
I tried repairing my previous dc. I destroyed it and had to bin it. Im not touching this one.
Is there anybody here with experience who can fix it for me? I can post the base console to the uk and maybe europe depending on postage costs.
I can also pay a small fee for repairs. Its bugging me that I cannot play all my games.
Repair shops in cork want 100 euros repair charge regardless of repairs needed. I could buy a new dc and some games for that price. If there are other worthwhile mods that can be done to my dc then I might opt for those too, and pay for the work of course. Vga mod etc.
Im in ireland.

Ditch the laser and go with a USB-GDRom drive for your dreamcast
3do-renovation.ru/USB-GDROM_Controller.htm
The install is really really easy, you just unplug the cd-drive and plug this usb drive in its place.

nope it replaces the disc drive. You'd instead have to download CDI's or preferably GDI's because they are 1:1 copy of dreamcast discs. If you are wanting to run retail discs you likely need to just adjust your laser. Its fairly simple procedure of just adjusting a screw on the laser assembly. Of course over time you'll have to do it again, and again until the laser burns out which will inevitably happen unless you buy a replacement laser or dreamcast.
