Making-of for Propeller Arena Dreamcast and archive of 7 prototypes

Seven Propeller Arena prototypes are now available for free download from the game's redesigned homepage. There's an alternative version (a must-try), an E3 version, a Debug Menu version and more.

I investigated it. I was able to obtain some information by talking to people who had worked on the game. I took the opportunity to write a Making-of. The 7 prototypes tell us a lot about Propeller Arena behind the scenes:

The Propeller Arena prototype of April 3, 2001 is an alternative version of the game, a sort of new game inside the game (a must-try):

The June 5 Propeller Arena prototype features a Debug Menu. AM2 was still running tests:

The other 5 prototypes are nothing special, with the possible exception of the August 7 prototype, which features a BBA tool in the Internet options.

For Online, it was tested at SEGA of America's QA. I couldn't get any more information about it: "Yeah we tested the online feature."

Analyzing and presenting perhaps unseen Artworks and Screenshots for the Unreleased Dreamcast game Propeller Arena. The development team updated their conceptual materials in the same way as a prototype, assigning a version number to each Artworks.

The screenshots must have been taken with the Debug Menu of one of the 7 buils recently shared.

It's all connected!!!

i've always been so curious as to how they made that game look so good on the DC, honestly it looked nicer than some PS2 games, hell Propeller Arena nearly looks like a Gamecube Launch Title or something.

very very nice!

(also i love the boxart on this, i always wanted to see a repro copy with that box art but there never is any! Shame its nice to see the online multiplayer badge and that shot of the explosions and shooting! + love the later 2000-01 Black Bar dreamcast banner, ik the original one is more fun and clever but theres a sleekness to it.
