KAGE and SNAP are essentially the same thing. It started as KAGE and evolved into SNAP. Although early KAGE is "wildly different" from SNAP according to one of the devs. This is why the server for Alien Front Online which used KAGE isn't adaptable for Bomberman Online, Outtrigger, and Propeller Arena which use SNAP.

There are some old IGN pictures of Daytona USA 2001 being played online back in the day on this forum. A picture of a lobby is shown there; I note all the user names end with .us

This is a picture taken from Gamesack's Dreamcast Youtube video. It looks like the creator did a Dreamcast movie back in 2001 and made it part of the aforementioned video. No other online Daytona 2001 footage seems to be present though.

Built out the foundational groundwork for the Lobby server. Gate server is pretty much done except for setting up the sql DB.

Least most of the login is now automated. Still gotta figure a few packets though before it can get to the entrance screen without manually sending a couple and editing 1 bool in mem. Most of the outgoing packet data is random stuff though the lobby packet is known (TestLobby).

Thanks for finding that, thought i remembered finding some shots like that!

What was interesting in a review from the launch of the game is that apparently the network mode was super buggy, it said at least half of your party would disconnect during the early part of the race almost all the time. Maybe thats why joe put that note in his game sack skit back in 2001, since the game did it alot. Curious once it gets to the point of a match working again if the issue will be seen again, im betting it was something more on the server side of things back in the day rather than the game itself, considering how they were cutting corners especially with Europe

Got team lists pmuch working, was using the wrong packet. The problem is the lobby engine flags a param to the "addToList" function to autoadd any missing things. So you get teams/players with missing params cause it autoadded it anyway sigh. Hence I kept getting max caps as 0.

Anyway still can't join a team (or make one) and my thought is it's probably because the player isn't being flagged as "me". Keep getting "You can't join this team" or "Can't create team" errors.

More progress! Finally laid out all the struct objects that the lists use. This made the code so much easier to read and helped me easily find how the select game packet worked. The server now can do the full login without any memory edits or manual packet sending!!! Got disconnects working fine so you can now return to the handle select screen as well. Also figured out how to set the MOTD/Welcome Message!
