Recapped Pal PSU + MODE = HEAT... should I be worried?

Looking for some advice:

I recapped my VA1 Pal PSU whilst I was putting my MODE in and had no concerns about heat when the top cover was off but now I've got it all back together it seems to be running pretty hot.

There doesn't seem to be a lot of info about MODE and how it could affect airflow and add to heat around the PSU. Pretty much everything I can find is about GDEMU. Terraonion state that it'll regulate the voltage correctly so not to worry about heat on the 12V line but also that if you remove it, it won't be an issue either as it doesn't use it.

It seems like the 12V line issue is at play here as I can't see any other reason for what I'd consider excessive heat when it was idling in the MODE menu for 30 mins, other than that. Has anyone else had issues with this and have they removed the 12V regulator? If so, did it solve the heat?

I'm not a big fan of the Pico PSU so if I can avoid it I will.
