Re: Dreamcast Live Competition #6 - San Francisco Rush 2049
I tried quite a few times and this is my best:

I wasn't able to get near it in any of my subsequent tries.
I also edited the Killer Stunt! achievement to 10,000 points. I think 15,000 may be a bit high (I could be wrong). I also changed Stunt Runt to 30,000.

Re: Dreamcast Live Competition #6 - San Francisco Rush 2049
hey guys, so here is my current best: I litterally tried it once and this is what I got. I read your competition stipulations etc and tried to follow them as best as I could but its unclear which options are "Default" and which aren't. So as to meet the requirements I just selected "Just Play" rather than load my age old save file that I have all the content unlocked in. You can see in the video the difference as, in my older videos about RUSH I used my old save and I had already collected the tokens in the rim, where as with this video you can see I haven't, see what you think!
Thought I'd take a few pictures to show that the tokens are clearly at zero rather than 8/8 etc

Re: Dreamcast Live Competition #6 - San Francisco Rush 2049
WOW! Nice job Ultrapro! I didn't think that score was even possible. I just went by videos on YouTube of people playing it to determine the achievements. Most of them (including you) got around 100,000 in 10mins. I just cut that in half and added 10,000 (for a bit of a challenge) for the best achievement. As for the settings, I don't think it really matters that much as long as you have the two important ones, 5min time limit and stunt wings (not having these would be a disadvantage).

Re: Dreamcast Live Competition #6 - San Francisco Rush 2049
cool thanks. Yeah I ended up deciding to just use a fresh game and "just race" instead of using my old save file with all the unlocks, so I just changed the car, the engine to what you specified and the wings to stunt, I think a lot of the Rush 2049 stunt mode is luck/flook until you really get it down to a serious art, which I haven't yet. I only landed about 6 tricks in the attempt.
Don't forget to check out my video about stunt mode, you have to really force the car to go in as many directions as you can before you land, I always hit the flat ramp head on, move the car back for 1 back flip, then straight forward to get a forward flip, then turn it to the right so you get both a roll and twist then you just get extras for how your car lands, ie wheelie, if it touches its roof, if it endos etc.
The most important part is to register as many different types of trick as possible, if you pause my new video at 0.12 you can see that I got 5 types of trick in that particular attempt, so the first one gets you no multiplyer, but every extra type you get after that times the amount you win by 10. I've just spent a few minutes trying to work out how the multiplication works but I can't understand it lol so just remember that for every type the multiplyers will go up x10 and the higher you get the more extra bonuses you'll receive such as bonus x 5, rush bonus x 40 etc.
I might do another attempt tonight and upload a full video to see how well I do and to try and give some tips on the way.
Its hard to explain how the controls work while your in the air but basically if you think of it as momentum etc, so the longer you hold the stick in one direction, the longer it will take you to pull the car out of that direction, so if you only hold it in a direction long enough for one token/bonus to register you can then force it quite quickly in the opposite directon. that's the best tip I can give!

Yeah, I did figure all that out by watching your video. It's the landing part that I need to get the hang of...

yeah. ok so here is what I try to do, you have to try and use the wings partially when trying to land, if your car is rolling on its side from left to right you can slow it down by opening the wings and turning the car in the opposite direction, I will try and demonstrate, I wonder if I can edit the video so I can pause and commentate via txt on the screen using youtube, might have a little experiment with it tonight

Re: Dreamcast Live Competition #6 - San Francisco Rush 2049
here's another video for you, not sure if its any use but I enjoyed making it and I managed to work out how to film it in 720p! I realised I hadn't been recording them at 720p previously, so this vid might be a slightly higher quality. enjoy!!

edit!! Just realised no matter what quality I record it at it seems youtube only allows 360/480p anyway so it doesnt matter lol
