snes classic roms question

I've had the snes classic for a couple of months now and I really want to try to download additional snes roms to the classic. Here's the problem..I am dumb. Do you have to install an emulator on your pc before you install roms? I literally have never even played emulation before...much less downloaded any of that stuff. I've watched youtube videos on installing hacchi2 or whatever and that seems simple enough....but getting the actual roms on the pc is where i'm a little shady.

You find a rom site, download the roms to your computer, decompress the roms with whatever unzipping program you have, open Hackchi2 then drag the rom files directly into Hackchi2 using your mouse.
