Nice. We used to watch VCD's I bought back in the 90's from Asia on the Dreamcast. I also bought the VCD box set of the Star Trek movies 1-6 plus Generations. The USA DVD set back then was over 2x more and did not come with Generations, which is the last of the original crew and the bridging the fan base to the 1980's Next Gen crew.

How do you get the DC to play VCDs? I have a couple that work with my PAL and NTSC Saturn's (with the cards).
Just insert the disc? It looks as if you have a boot loader similar to Codebreaker to force the DC to boot the disc?

I was wonder if you could play a Vcd file from the gdemu. Kinda pointless I suppose. But would be neat nonetheless.

I would love to watch Rolling Vengeance on my dreamcast. Lol

If I remember correctly you can simply add a mpeg-1 file to the raw files of any of the dc vcd players and build a selfboot image.

What file would it take to play a vcd on a gdemu? Would dreamshell just boot it up? Or would I need to load a vcd player program first?

look up fuzzcast.com hes putting out 4gb widescreen movies for the Dreamcast/GDemu all the time.

for vcd on dc there is:

xing hong, gyplay (2 versions), and a few homebrew video players that will also play mpeg1.

skip vcd and create .avi files to play with dc divx, the quality is way better.

SMiTH is correct. I watched Spiderman (Tobey McGuire) on DiVX with my three kids on the Dreamcast. I had such a fun night with them.
