Hello
Have anyone burnt cdi backup images(successfully) under linux?
I tried this method:
http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showpo ... ostcount=5
But failed. Everything seemed to work fine. Or at least i thought so. But what came out of my drive tray is completely useless. On dc it takes it as a music cd. Yet, i press play, and nothing happens, not even the time counter moves. And on linux, file explorer says it cant mount the cd. Fail.
Ive tried to install disc juggler and alcohol with wine, but none will install. Ive even tried to install them via a virtual workstation but apparently the cd frives emulation isnt good enough. Alcohol starts burning but after a few minutes it like screws up. More fail.
I know i can switch back to windows and burn them... But having to restart and switch os JUST for burning dreamcast games isnt cool.
Any help please?

Re: burning cdi backups on linux
It seems that the Linux method is always difficult at best. I've had no luck with Linux and found it does not want to make a "BOOTABLE" burn, thus being the problem.
Because the world revolves around MS Windows, this process is more effective using Bill Gate's evil OS.

Re: burning cdi backups on linux
lame.
ive also read about converting CDIs to NRG files. And i know its easy to burn nrg files under linux. question is: would the nrg files keep the data structure so its bootable and readable by a dreamcast?

Re: burning cdi backups on linux
Well, it is a tough answer. I have abandoned nero being it has caused mixed results. It seems that the newer ISO's (CDI) when converted to Nero (NRG) I have a 60/40 chance of success. I use DiscJuggler per Smith's valued recommendation. I has made all the difference. Unfortunately, some ISO's are Alcohol 120 friendly only (it's not may fault). The problem with A-120 is that is is so uncommon to most users to actually have on your PC. Unlike Nero, which has multiple uses, Alcohol 120 is mostly used with ripped ISO's and nothing else realistically (I'm sure someone will tell me they use it to make DVD's or cure cancer or something).
