Any info on reviving servers?

Post by Favrenation »

I am intrested in reviving the game chu chu rocket to be online. I really have no idea how to start though. I have no codng experince but I know people who can. I am willing to do lots of research and testing and if it doesnt involve coding I am willing to do the whole thing and run the server in my house but the only reason I even bring this up is becuase on a forum here a guy said it would be possible but very hard to reverse engineer it. I know what that means but I dont know what that means when it comes to servers and I am a noob at servers too. I am doing a research on servers though so thats not a huge probelem any info in getting the IP adress would be nice and do you need seperate software to run the server? Any info will be great!

Well, the Vikings will win the Superbowl before the rest of the DC games will ever get back online. The basic problem is that most of the games depend on a master list. This is what the Dreamcast is looking for. There is URL spewing out that the game server also needs to be able to both understand and respond to.

Well, as stated, the Vikings have a better chance than we do seeing the dead servers come back. UT comes close, the UT server does see the DC, but the "reply" back to the DC is not what is understood by the DC.

I have been rooting for the Vikes since they got their head coach. I have liked him when he was with the Eagles, just like the Giants "D" coach (x-Eagle "D" coach).

The new plan is to hack the RingEdge games, then use their network capabilities by integrating them with the Dreamcast OS.

Oh, that's right, RingEdge is never gonna be a Dreamcast....NEVERMIND!
