What's the current best way to play psov2 characters on multiple systems?

So with my adventures in to the gdemu toy I decided to use it on one of my backup systems instead of my old main system. I do have a working version2 in the gdemu system, it doesn't recognize my old save files.

I would prefer not starting over as my original characters are quite dated and my legit collection is immense. For example I spent god knows how much time cultivating one of every single mag possible

So what's the current best solution for playing my old crew on this new system?

1. In the new system delete the internal flash memory if it has a different saved PSO serial, otherwise go to 2.
2. Start a new character and enter the same serial as on your old system, this will save the serial to the flash memory.
3. Load the old character and play away.

If your old character was a V1 upgraded to V2 you have to start a new V1, upgrade to V2 then load the old character.
