Ah, I forgot about that. So is the game actually different compared to the Kickstarter release? Now I'm curious...livingonwheels wrote:I had my copy pre ordered here:

Re: Arcade Racing Legends Review! First footage of final version.
I haven't played it since on Redream so know I could easily beat those times as that was my first go. I own the kickstart Road Trip Edition like you. Try your rip on Redream if possible and see if the same issues with the times.livingonwheels wrote:I'm studying your playthrough, and I can tell you so far that your times for beating the race are slower than my game's leader by at least 5 seconds (which in a race is quite a bit). What I'm trying to say is, your beating the leader with a time that my game's leader would beat by at least 5 seconds. I can personally get your total race times in the first 3 races, but it is not good enough to beat the leader (in my version of the game). On my GDEMU it comes as Arcade Legends Limited Edition (LE). I think I'll try playing this on disc, or even VGA to see if there is a difference.
I do know when I played through the career mode and the game save corrupted all the best lap race times were stupid, 48 secs for all 3 laps so had to restart a save.
Can you pass me a few of the race times and I'll see how I fair as it's the only challenge this game will give me.

Re: Arcade Racing Legends Review! First footage of final version.
This game just seems full of bugs.
Just tried arcade mode again, beat most of my times by 4 or 5 seconds, won one race by over 12 seconds.....
Won the submarine arcade race but look at the best race time.... that's for 3 laps haha - you'll be lucky to do 1 lap in that time....
Think I'm done with this game now. Lost another mark 6/10 game for me. It's unfinished and full of bugs and actually quite boring for a racing game.

Re: Arcade Racing Legends Review! First footage of final version.
Just an update. The game began acting up on my GDEMU. Music would suddenly be replaced by static sound, the entire game would freeze at the end of a race (requiring a reboot), and sometimes during gameplay the Dreamcast would just reboot. I decided to take this opportunity to test the physical disc in another Dreamcast.
First off, I noticed immediately that the cars behave differently. On the GDEMU the cars stutter, they don't move smoothly. I just thought it was novice programming, but the actual disc play does not have this issue.
Secondly, I am blowing through the game now. I catch up easily and win without much of an issue. If I bump into a wall, I have no problem being able to catch up. On the GDEMU, there was very, very little chance of catching up. The leader would continue to gain on me, sometimes up to 15 seconds ahead. There is no doubt that this game is not properly compatible with the GDEMU (or at least my GDEMU & latest firmware).

Game sounds like it is using timing from the disk prolly why they did not want to do a digital download as it does not work correct with out proper disk timing... since it's streaming data and the code sound like it has fixed time to load parts of the data from the 12x speed gdrom ..
Any faster and you get these problems.. this also happens on something i have done homebrew as i code it for the timing it loads from a real cdr .. and it needs that timing..

What a surprise, all the YouTube shills loved it, but the ppl who backed it think it's an unfinished buggy mess.

Not to hijack this thread. But I got a Terraonion MODE awhile back, and I need to rip my indie DC games since they are not as easily found online to download. I read using an old version of disc juggler works for this, did you have to use any special settings when doing so or did you just have it make a .CDI with default settings? Any info on how to do this would be greatly appreciated.livingonwheels wrote:I had my copy pre ordered here:

Well, I guess it's perfect digital copy protection to prevent piracy then! Kind of like how the SNES "Earthbound" or PS1 "Spyro" games would let you play the game, but sneakily wouldn't let you actually win if you used a pirated copy!Ian Micheal wrote:Game sounds like it is using timing from the disk prolly why they did not want to do a digital download as it does not work correct with out proper disk timing... since it's streaming data and the code sound like it has fixed time to load parts of the data from the 12x speed gdrom ..

"It's a feature, not a bug!"
/sarcasm
I received my copy last week, which interestingly was the two-disc "Road Trip" edition, despite me ordering the cheaper, plain, no-soundtrack version from the website. I was NOT part of the Kickstarter, I simply placed an order on the website last month.
Works well on my physical console, I also quickly changed controls to Left/Right triggers for brake and accelerate!
Still trying to master the drifting and determine what's best to tune in the garage for different cars.
Overall, pretty happy, it's a decent game.

Re: Arcade Racing Legends Review! First footage of final version.
I didn't use any special settings with DiscJuggler, but I did use an unregistered version V6.00.1400-PRO2.
I've ripped most of my JoshProd games with this program.
Be warned that Arcade Racing Legends did not work well with my GDEMU.
