Voip Question?

Post by Favrenation »

I want to get the dreamcast online. A PC-DC server isn't out of the question but I think it would be simpler just to use a phone line. The problem is my parents don't have land-line service we just use cellphones (Yep that's right I am 14 years old soon to be 15). I saw this commercial for magic jack and in case you guys dont know it is a is a device the size of a pen drive that plugs into your computer and gives you unlimited minutes for 20 dollars a year. The thing that I like is that it has an rj-11 jack at the end of it. I know the service is legit by reading through many reviews. I also know that you can send faxes with it. My question is: If you can send faxes with it can you use it for a dialup connection? I asked the question before but know one answered it. Thanks in advance!

You could just have bumped the topic. I, personally, read it. But i dont know the asnwer, i never heard of that magic jack before, so needless to say i dont know if its gonna be working for a dc. All i can say is, worth a try maybe?

But just saying, if no one answers you here(if i was you id be getting used to it.. Im in the same situation) making the same topic again wont change anything.

I also have no idea if this would work. But paying $20/month for this wouldn't be cost effective compared to a pc/dc server. Buy a zoom 3095, download and install ubuntu, and follow the guide that is stickied... a one time $15 purchase is way cheaper than $20 a month, and probably better connection wise anyway.

I wrote this message in Ubuntu. But I think I might do the PC-DC server thing. But again I have no land line so I would have to use Gary B's method of using and mp3 of a phone to play quake on-line.
